Zhu Zhu Pets the new Tickle Me Elmo?

We hate to stoke the worries of parents across America, but ...

... stores are running out of the the toys your children want for Christmas gifts!

Parents' Red Alert! Parents' Red Alert! Parents' Red Alert!

Read this story in The Associated Press today: Can't find the hot new toy? Blame the economy.

An excerpt:
Stores, remembering how Americans snapped their wallets shut last holiday season, didn't order big piles of merchandise in the first place. The result, with seven weeks to go before Christmas, is that popular toys are already hard to find.

Another story in the Financial Times talks more about the Zhu Zhu Pets line of toys. The company behind the toys, Cepia, reportedly is coming out with more: robotic chipmunks, robotic squirrels, robotic hedgehogs, robotic rabbits....

Somehow, we think no matter how many they come out with, they'll all be "scarce" this holiday shopping season.
